Recently Barack Obama was asked which music he had listened to at the moment, and he answered Jay-Z’s new album. Aside the fact that a presidential hopeful spends his time listening to a rapper pay homage to the biggest Harlem drug lord in history, this got me to wonder if we could actually get the first president in history, that actually likes hip-hop. So Tom Cruise took a break from Kid Katie to tango with a real woman. He locked horns with the mighty Queen Latifah and boy was that a mismatch made in heaven. I guess when Latifah rapped she “Had it up to here”, it was about the spot Tom reaches upto. Danish hip-hop has its kings and dukes, but only one queen – that’s MisMarie, and today is her birthday. From the start with DoubleMouth to stealing the spotlight from Tim Dog and Bahamadia, she remains the echelon of MC’ing and hopefully she’ll soon have the hip-hop market in a cobra clutch.

Second update centering around something Nas says on his new album. For some reason I’m really fascinated by his rekindled love-interest with hip-hop, because on one hand it’s cool that he’s name checking all the artists I enjoyed growing up, on the other hand it kinda seems like it’s mostly done for the sake of having a topic to rhyme about.
Take “Where are the now” for one.
