Me & RZA: The Abbot and the PTA get down in Berlintown

A short while ago I had the pleasure of interviewing The RZA for an upcomming issue of ActionSpeax – a Danish hip-hop magazine, that have been kind enough to hire me to write for them. So I traveled to Berlin to conduct the interview and headed back the same day – pretty hectic.

I can’t disclose too much about the interview yet as it’s for the March issue of ActionSpeax, but he touches on a lot of cool points, name-drops his favorite movies at random, challenges me to a chess-match and says ‘swords’ with a pronounced ‘w’ at least 20 times. I’m hoping to put the MP3 of the interview online around the release of the mag, as he also raps old GZA and Cappadonna verses and I can’t really do them justice by transcribing them. It was of course a big deal to sit in front of the god, who I’ve been a fan of since forever (not the album).

But that’s all at least a couple of months away. For now you’ll have to settle for the December issue of ActionSpeax. As I mentioned below in this issue I’ve got a DJ Muggs interview, but I’ve also interviewed Strøm, Ali Kazim, Lucy Love, Medina, Lizzie, done an article on beef in Danish hip-hop and reviewed three CD’s and two DVD releases. So all in all, a lot of PTA’ness in one mag right there. If you really wanna read about Wu, Tobeannounced has a pretty good run-down of the new album, or you can check my story about when they failed to play Roskilde. I’ll leave you with this pic of me on the Alexander Platz right in front of the Fernsehturm.
